Hey guys (and girls),

I'm a film student at college, and everyone in my program got the same version of final cut pro off of a guy in second year. Only problem was we couldn't all use it at once because it had the same serial number.

So I decided to bite the bullet and purchase my own version of Final Cut Studio. I deleted everything Final Cut related from my MacBookPro and installed my legitimate copy.

Now the problem is, everything is still registered to that same version of Final Cut Pro, and I can't use it.

Is there a way I can switch the serial numbers to my new and legal copy? Do I have to reinstall it or something? Anything you guys can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly did you delete and how did you delete it? FCS can be difficult to uninstall and it doesn't come with an uninstaller. There are some third party uninstallers you might try.

You can't just switch serial numbers. I believe each copy is tied to its own number. Did you reinstall from scratch?
