Although I have a Maxtor 320gb 2.5" drive it has backup files Winzipped from PC as well as unzipped files used to transfer to new Mac.

If I want to use this drive I will have to reformat the drive for use with TM.

Any advice on best compatible, e.g. Iomega eGo USB 2.0 320Gb portable?

Take a look at what Mac Sales has to offer. They're Mac specialists and only sell the best in equipment for your Mac. Remember, that a backup drive has to be reliable - In reality, more reliable than your internal one.

I would choose a drive that had all three ports: USB 2, FW 400, and FW 800.

Regards.
