I finally got my external hard drive and created 2 partitions with disk utility
- one is the mac os x HFS+ for my time machine
- the other one is NTFS-3G that I installed using the NTFS-3G driver and macFuse.

I can write and read the NTFS-3G inside my mac but when I plug it in my windows computer, it doesn't even show up on the list of drives.

Is there something I have to install on the windows for me to use the NTFS-3G partition or it should automatically be found by windows XP ?

Hmmm. I've had no problems using NTFS-3G myself, but I formatted my partition using Windows, not Disk Utility. At the moment, I can only suggest reformatting it in NTFS using Windows. Perhaps there's some subtle bug or incompatibility that keeps Windows from recognizing a partition formatted using NTFS-3G.
