iBook G3 sleep mode issue

Hi guys
Someone may can help me on this.
Recently got an Apple iBook G3 900M/14', found there is an issue on sleep mode. But i'm not sure it's a hardware or no problem at all.

When Apple OS running, I click mouse goes to 'sleep' mode, screen shut down. Then, I close lcd screen to around 10 degree, then turn screen back to 90 degree. The LCD screen goes back to normal automatically.


I did reset MPU and fresh install OS, this issue still there.

anyone can advise.

I'm not sure if what you are describing is a problem, it is assuming that you want to wake it up.. IF I close MBP screen then open it up once it has gone to sleep, it wakes up...

If its a laptop/notebook, should be like this, manually setup to sleep mode, screen shut down, then turn lcd lid to 10 degree, turn back to 90 degree. The screen should be still black, only touch any keys then it will go back to normal.

Hope you can understand what's my problem on the sleep mode.

Nope, can't see what the problem is at all. You open it, you wake it up.

If you don't want it to wake up why do you need it open anyway?

Here is maybe more details.

Here is what I did 3 tests when I get the laptop.
1) Apple OS running, goes to 'sleep' mode, screen shut down.
2) Touch any keys, screen goes back to normal.

3) Apple OS running,
4) Close lcd screen to around 10 degree, screen shut down (looks
like go to sleep mode), then turn screen back to 90 degree. Touch any
keys, screen goes back to normal.

5) Apple OS running, goes to 'sleep' mode, screen shut down.
6) Close lcd screen to around 10 degree, then turn screen back to 90
degree. screen goes back to normal automatically.

For step 1/2, normal; step 3/4 normal.
But don't know 5/6 is ok or problem.
The other test is when the os running, close the lcd lid then open, lcd screen shut down. 2nd time close then open, screen back to normal. 3rd time close then open, screen shut down. 4th time close/open, back to normal.

Hope it's useful on my problem.

Yeah, what we're saying is that

a) It's normal
b) Why are you closing it to 10 degrees?
c) If you keep shutting it and then opening it before it's properly gone to sleep the screen may stay black while it sorts itself out.

Basically if you want it asleep then shut it, if you want it on then open it. 10 degrees open is pretty useless anyway, and opening it and closing it repeatedly is also pointless.
