iPhone 4 won't back up in iTunes

Your Mac's Specs
MBP 15", 2.6, i7, 8G Ram, OS X 10.10, iPhone 6 Plus
Bought new iPhone4 today, backed up my 3Gs, then plugged in the new I4, synced it and all is well. Now when I plug in my new 4, I get an error stating that the backup could not be saved on the computer. I deleted the old back up but still the same error. Thanks in advance for any help.
