Bad Security Port position?

On the Powerbook G4, the Security port was furthest back on the left side of the machine, now for some missguided reason, the security port on the Macbook Pro is the first port on the right hand side of the machine. That places it in front of all the other ports, which means that if you have a security lockc cable attached, it is in the way of your mouse or mouse cable and other cables, forcing you to remove the security cable every time you want to use your laptop. Is this simply bad design, or is there a mysterious hidden "smart" reason for this strange change?

That spot can only be beaten by directly in front of the notebook.

In the front, you would have the cable lying under your arm or falling off the edge of the table to land in your lap... Nope... not good. The best really is where it was on the Powerbook Aluminum, furthest back on the left besides the power cord and out of the way of everything else
