MacBook Pro HardDrive Space Disappeared?

I have a 500 GB Macbook Pro that I bought last August, I have really only used it for websurfing and to download music. I was updating my time machine for the first time in a month and on August 8th(of this year) according to time machine I had 330 GB of available, but today I have about 130 GB. Can anyone explain how I lost 200 GB without downloading anything major (programs, movies, etc) in the past month? Is there a way to check where my all my space has gone and where all my space is being allocated? I know it is rare to obtain a virus on my mac, but could I have something that is sucking up my free space?
