Changing name of trackpad

Just wondering if you can change name of the trackpad, I bought it 2nd hand and it has someone's name on it.
Not a huge issue..but still.

I think you have to unpair it, then you should get the option to rename it when you freshly pair it up

I don't think you need to unpaid the trackpad. Try the following. I think it works in SL as well as Lion.
1. Open the Bluetooth preference pane and select the trackpad.
2. Click on the gear at the bottom go the list of Bluetooth devices (next to the + and - to add/remove devices)/ There is an option in the drop down menu to rename the device.
3. When the dialog box appears type a new name.

In Yosemite the steps are simpler:

1. Goto Blutooth in the Settings panel

2. option+click the device and select 'rename'

3. Provide your new name and click 'Rename'
