I have had two or three processes lock up in OS 10.5.2. All but one were in windowed mode so a "force quit" did the job.

One was World of Warcraft and that is full screen mode. When it locked up I had no idea what I could do to get rid of it. In XP I would CTRL-ALT-DEL and then kill it..... is there a similar process in OS 10.5.2 that would allow me to get back to the OS?

I had to force shutdown the computer with the power button and that is probably not a great thing to do.
