CD Drive

I've been having problems with my CD drive lately. Every time I'm finished with a CD/DVD and try ejecting it from my Mac, it seems to be having troubles spitting out the CD. It makes a loud noise like its trying to spit it out but the CD doesn't pop out. If i keep trying to eject it i can finally get it out but i dont know why its doing this? do i need to replace the drive? or i heard it can be a mechanism problem. Can someone help me on how to fix this please

What sort of drive, imac, desktop, macbook,?

Try clearing it out with a little canned air, if not then if you have AppleCare then get it to your closest Apple Store. Sounds like a mechanism problem that you may have to have checked out

its an iMac6, 1, dont have apple care so i cant go to a store and closet one is in the states and im in Canada so thats pretty inconvenient

Using quality media such as Verbatim?

Alas iMacs use the minaturized laptop type of optical drive and they seem to have a huge failure rate compared to desktop optical drives. Look through these threads or do a search on iMac failed optical drives.
