Hi..

As a lifetime pc user I have today taken posession of a macbook pro. Very nice to look at but I am struggling..

I really need to import my email history from my pc laptop to the mac. I've exported all the messages, in their folders to a hardrive as .eml files.

Clearly, it's not as simple as importing from the hard drive to Entourage or Mail or Thunderbird. Obviously I need to do some file converting but after 3 hours of frustrating web browsing, I have not found and answer that works.

Surely I am not the only person that has needed to do this.

I'll be without my PC from tomorrow eve so need to perform this by then.

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Which program were you using for email on your Windows machine?

Lets see if we can get things cleared away before then. First of all what e-mail program were you using on the PC? That will dictate a bit how we go about doing things.

@cwa107 I've either got to say less or type faster to keep up with you. lol

found this not sure if this helps...

Import .eml file-

Save the .eml files to your hard drive by selecting them in the Attachments box, then click Save. Now, select one on the Desktop, and go to File -> Get Info. Under "Open With", change the application to Entourage. Click the button to change all. Now try dragging them into the Entourage window or double-clicking them to open them there.

Glad to help. I bet that someone has written a script/program that would go folder by folder to run the conversion a bit more automatically. I'll have to keep that in mind the next time this question comes up.
