Making Electronic Beats

Hi there,

I'm don't know an entire amount of stuff on music making but do play the guitar as a hobby and I'm looking at a program for mac that I could use for making electronic beats to go with an acoustic tune.. for example.. music like this http://www.myspace.com/wearethedanceparty

I've tried using Propellerheads Reason, but it is behind my knowlege.. looking for something a little simpler to start out.
