I was looking through the store, and I can get a mid 2009 15" MBP (2.53ghz with 4gigs of ram and the standard 9400m graphics) for $1449.99.

I had a couple questions...

1. I have bought refurbished devices before (from AT&T), and they look BRAND NEW like they had just gotten off the line. Are Apple's refurbished notebooks this good of quality, or are there some nicks and scratches? The main thing I'm worry about is the screen, no scratches on there for me and I'm good. I could live with a nick here and there on the casing.

2. Can I still use my government discount on a refurbished notebook?

Thanks for the help guys, I can't wait to get me a new MBP!!!

I can't say anything about your discount but as for the Mac it will be "showroom"

I'm on a refurbished late 2008 aluminum MacBook (before they made the 13 inchers "pro") and when I got it it was pretty much brand new. The "age of my mac" in coconut battery was 1 week. I had had 1 load cycle. The only differences are the box isn't as pretty, and you get less warranty maybe? 180 days instead of a year. I still have no scratches anywhere on my notebook.

As for #2, I don't know... maybe? If I were you though, I'd get a 2.4GHz late 2008 macbook pro (it has the 9400m and the dedicated card also, but not the "revolutionary!" battery).

Apple tests and certifies their refurbs, but I do not think any of the computers would have bad scratches or marks/dents on them.

As for the military discount, check this page out and scroll down to the near bottom to U.S. Government and Pricing.
