hello everyone, i have connected my mbp to a projector, everything works
pretty good, i just wanted to know how can i shut down only the notebook display without shutting down the projector. (want to see a movie without the light that goes out from the mac. and another question, is it ok to plug and un plug the dvi cable while computer is on?

Turn the brightness all the way down on the display until it goes off (F1 key on older MacBook Pros). That will turn the backlight off without degrading the picture quality on the projector.

Yes, it's OK to unplug the DVI connector with the power turned on.

That would be done on the projector itself. The brightness controls on the Mac are specific to the Mac's integrated display.
