I have an older MAC clone..supermac j700....Trying to re-install system CD...When I boot up it says welcome to mac os..then I click install ...I get error

The device or media at address "SCSI:0 IDO" is not ready. Please check the device.

It shows my hard drive "Quantum fireball" and also my CD-ROM drive...but i can't install the system software...Please add comments...

Maybe your HDD is dead OR a wire is loose inside, and by the looks of it the wire inside that would be loose has something to do with the (probably connecting the HDD to the rest of the system) HDD. I just got that assumption by reading the error message and thinking about it :)

Thanks....I changed the hard drive to an IBM SCSI 2.1gb....works great with OS 9.1....
