    external hard drive formatting
Well I bought myself an external hard drive. I want to get all the data on my pc on to the hard drive, but I want my mac to be able to read a write to it. It is my understanding that if I format it fat32 they can both read and write to it? On my windows computer it doesn't have an option to format to fat32 though. How would I go about formatting it on a mac so it could be readable and writable on both machines. Thanks!

    Specs:
    15in i7 MacBook Pro, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 500GB HD
Hook it up to the Mac, open Disk Ulitity, select your drive, and then the erase tab. From the drop down menu, pick MS-DOS as your format option.

Yes, don't let the MSDOS part scare you. It's FAT-32. Works fine with either Windows or OSX.
