    Dead iBook G4
I have an iBook G4 that I haven't used in almost a year. I took it out the closet and I attempted to start it and got nothing. I thought perhaps it was the power adapter, bought a new one, and got nothing.
Any ideas how I can reboot it?

    Specs:
    2011 13" MBP 2.3ghz, 8gig ram, OS 10.7.5
Is the computer doing anything (startup chime, light on the display, HD spinning, light on power adapter plug lighting up, etc.)?

It's PRAM battery may be dead.

Leave it plugged into the power adapter, assuming its showing it's charging, for several hours and it just might get some residual charge into it and allow it to boot. Maybe...

I seem to remember that the iBook series does not have a standard PRAM battery but instead uses a capacitor charge - discharge system instead. Or am I thinking of something else? Anyone remember for sure?

You are quite correct and I forgot that it was an iBook series.

They use a logic board mounted 0.022F 5.5V capacitor used to supply power to hold PRAM settings while changing the battery which only provides around 20seconds of power which is considered sufficient to allow batteries to be switched without loosing settings.

But it could be a stiction problem that maybe a sharp hard wack on the side might cure.

Dropping the iBook off a 10-story building will cure the problem as well!

Really? I would have thought that would be much too drastic and absolutely no control over where it got hit. ;-)
