I just upgraded my OS from 10.4.11 to 10.6.3 because I needed at least 10.5.8 for my new iPhone. In talking to the Apple customer care people they said my 1 gig RAM will run Snow Leopard, but they strongly recommend me upgrading to at least 2 gigs of RAM.
I've looked at a few youtube videos on how to upgrade the RAM and it seems painfully easy...all I need to do now is buy the ram and put it in. I'm just wondering what kind of RAM I need to get. Below are some screen shots of my computer specs:
In looking around the RAM isn't as cheap as I was hoping, so I'm going to see how the computer does with what it has, but I eventually would like to upgrade because whenever I run Photoshop CS3 with Adobe Bridge my computer is slow as molasses (I'm assuming a RAM upgrade will help that).
Anyway, what exactly should I look for in the RAM I buy. Right now i'm leaning towards simply getting a 1 gig RAM and putting it in the vacant slot, but was wondering if there would be any drawback to having one slot with the factory RAM and the other slot with another type.
Is the "DDR2" the only important thing to look at, or should I find one that 667 MHz? I also see some on Ebay specifying the computer size (15.4", 17", etc.) Does that really matter?

*EDIT: I bought my MBP in the fall of 2006. From the limited research I've done so far it appears the most RAM I can install is 2 gigs...that being 2 x 1 gig cards. Is that right? I'd hate to spend my money on more to find out my computer doesn't support it!
