I tried connected an external keyboard to my Macbook Pro, but every key press is repeated.

It connects via USB, and it's not an apple keyboard.

Any ideas?

What kind of keyboard is it? Most Windows type USB keyboards work fine right out of the box. However, there are keyboards which are designed specifically for Windows and come with installable software in order to use certain functions.

Try this: Open System Preferences, select Keyboard. Set the "Key Repeat Rate" to slow and set the "Delay Until Repeat" to long. Reboot and see if that helps.

Regards.

That still didn't work. :/ It's an old Logitech keyboard that came as a set with a mouse and is pretty clearly meant for a desktop. I'll just give up, I suppose.

Thanks for the help!

I've had a similar experience with an old - and I mean really old - ADB keyboard. The springs beneath each key get slack/sloppy and just don't return the key to its original position quickly enough. I stopped using my Apple keyboard because of the delayed return, and the sensation of typing in rapidly-setting chocolate.

Test seldom-used keys, eg. q, z, ~, ^ on the Logitech to see if they repeat like those keys used much more often, eg, the vowels.

In the end, as you suggest, if it's an old and well-worn unit, replace it.
