Dr. Bott Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter - Apple Store (U.K.)

Some reviews there promise this standard Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter can do sound over the port, but i thought the Mini DisplayPort simply didnt do audio?

I know Kanex's adapter with USB audio will do it, but could this cheaper adapter do it too??

There is no sound output via the Mac's mini displayport, unless the new ones introduced today have been updated.

I didn't read that many of the reviews since I already know it won't work.

The only one I read that mentioned audio, did not state they were getting audio through the adapter. They merely said that they had great video and audio on their TV. "Assuming" that this person meant great video and audio from this adapter would be an erroneous assumption.

And realize, about 80 % of the folks that get their devices all working, still couldn't tell you the difference between one cable and the next a week later.
