    I have a new Canon Pixma MP620 printer and a new MBP with Snow Leopard upgrade. Does anyone know how to get the wireless printer to show up as an option for printing?

    I tried to follow the Canon instructions. However, after about 2 hours of tring, I just can't get the setup to work. It's soooo frustrating...

    Note: using an Actiontec wireless router for Verizon FIOS.

    Try these steps; and here i am assuming that you have an apple wireless device that the printer is connected to with its USB lead.
    Install drives off CD that came with printer while printer is connected by USB to your computer; download and instal latest drivers from Canon site while it is still connected;
    go into sys Prefs/printer & fax and if anything shows up in left pane select and delete. Then start over and add printer and this time make default.
    Then print a test page and if that is OK then disconnect USB lead and search and add printer again with it connected to wireless device.

    Make sure you download updated Snow Leopard drivers from Canon or just use Software Update. It's probably best to use software update so they'll be downloaded automatically and placed in the correct folders on your Mac.

    Then run the Canon wireless utility. The utility will actually use your router setup (SSID and password) to make contact with the MP 620. You should see two Canon MP 620 printers when you open the Printer Preference Panel. One will have a net address, the other will not. The one with the net address is your wireless printer. Use it as the default.

    I have my MP 620 located about 20 feet from the router and it works fine. A bit slow at times when printing, but otherwise OK.

    Regards.

    Okay, the remote printer is now up and running. Apparently a patch was required in order for the printer to work with the Snow Leopard OS. A Canon rep walked me through the process of downloading the patch from their website, and voila! We have remote printing capabilities. It took about 35 mins. Thanks for your help, guys!

    Glad to hear you're up and running. The Canon folks have been real good about providing updated drivers for SL and tech support. I believe the "patch" the Canon tech had you download was the new wireless utility for 10.6 as the old utility that worked for 10.5 no longer could "see" the printer.

    Anyway, enjoy wireless printing. Our MP 620 is a workhorse. BTW, I found a net reseller of refilled color cartridges for the MP 620. Their cartridges incorporate the original Canon chip and work like new. Savings of about 50% from new ones.

    Regards.

    To be honest, I rarely do scanning. The last time I scanned something I used the USB key slot on the Canon. Was faster that way. I'll give it a try and see if it works as it's supposed to.

    Regards.

    See this other thread in case you hadn't already found it. And yes, this printer does allow wireless scanning in OSX, although the card reader doesn't work over wireless for some reason.
