I'm pretty sure you didn't have to install the software, you should have been able to just plug it in and it would work. os x comes with many pre installed drivers, the ones you installed are most likely causing a conflict. I'd say try uninstalling the ones you installed,
then just plug the mouse in.

For those buttons you would need the MAC logitech driver. Which driver did you have installed that made the buttons not work? I have 2 macs with Logitech Trackman Marbles and a Optical Lotitech and both have the latest Logitech driver installed so all the buttons work, and I have not had a problem. What is the Logitech laser mouse? That does not ring a bell at all with me.

I have always wanted a camaro, I was supposed to be buying a real nice 88 iroc z28 from a friend, but his girlfriend/wife wrecked it and bent the frame.

Its fairly new and its logitechs only laser mouse, its much more sensitive than the optical mice. and the driver I had installed was the only one available from the logitech website for macs for the laser mouse

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/US/EN,CRID=1792,contentid=9409,OSID=9

thats what i got...
