Hi, i'm not that great with technological stuff and was just wondering about hooking up tele's with my macbook for my uni room next year.

if i have a hd tele, will my macbook support a hdmi connection with it? or do i need to use my dvi output and convert it to hdmi with an adapter? if i do this, will i be able to play downloaded blu ray films through my macbook?

thanks in advance

The Mac doesnt have HDMI output so you need to use an adapter, yes. As far as I know there is no blu-ray player for Mac yet. However you can get one in an external enclosure and use it via USB.

For viewing media I recommend using Plex, read more here if you want: Mac Mini As Media Center, My Mac Mini Home Theater Hub

I am currently looking at monitors with TV tuner and Samsung and LG do make them, up to 24" at reasonable prices. I have decided to get the Samsung T240 HD which gives a 1920x1200 and full 1080HD for around GBP308 (inclusive of a 5 years' warranty - Richer Sounds in the UK) for my son. I have connected his MBP13" to the monitor via Dvi-D and it looked great. TV reception was good too in the shop. Google for specs.
