As per the title really.

If I purchased a Mac Pro, and had a small monitor running with it just like a normal desktop computer, would it be possible to also have my 42" TV as a monitor and browse the net, use Front Row etc using a wireless mouse and keyboard?

Or would this not be possible due to the connections etc?

Has anyone done similar?

It rather depends on the inputs your TV has.

Many TVs feature VGA inputs, and if yours does you should find no problem using the adapter that came with your Mac Pro to convert your DVI output to VGA and then use a VGA cable to hook up to your TV.

If your TV has other inputs instead it may still be possible to get a converter for those inputs.

Thanks for the reply - so as long as I have a VGA input on the TV it should be fine?

I currently have an iMac - Would I be able to do it using the iMac without having to purchase another machine?

The iMac has a mini-DVI output, which you can get converters for to convert to VGA!

So the short answer is, yes that should be possible. You would need to buy some adapters though.
