im looking to connect my macbook to my 32" 1080p lcd tv, im going to buy the dvi-vga converter i know then that i am going to need another vga cable because the apple cable is ridiculously short but i have had no experience at all with vga cables so i wanted ot know if there is a specific one i need? Also i was planning on watching films that i have ripped onto my my macbook i wanted ot know if there would be any loss in quality as they look perfect on my macbook as it is but obviously im wandering if the bigger screen will have an effect on this?

thanks guys

VGA cables are pretty standard. Just buy the length you need.

Also, the mini-DVI to VGA is supposed to be short, it's just an adapter, not a full blown cable. It's perfect because then you can buy the proper length instead of being stuck with whatever arbitrary length Apple might have provided.

As for resolution, the Macbook can support full blown 1080p, so you shouldn't have any problem.

I have done it a lot with my macbook pro and I use a DVI-HDMI Cable to connect it. The DVI goes in the MacBook and the HDMI in the TV end. I also used a Digital Fiber Optic Cable to the Mac then into the Fiber Optic In on my apm for sound. Hope this helps.
