camera conection problem

hi
I m trying to connect my camera canon ixus 65 to my MBP with a usb cable but when i connect them nothing happened.(I dont have any drivers installed on my mac but I dont think that should be the problem)

what do u think I can do to to make it work and recognise the camera ?

This is gonna sound stupid but is the camera on? My Cannon camera doesn't connect unless its power is on.

im having the same problem with a canon ixus 70.. yep the power is on!
Oh never mind I just read the answers in another thread....

Canon cameras, to my knowledge, do not mount as mass storage drives. Just the way Canon works. Will not show up on your desktop, but will most certainly allow you to import your photos into iPhoto. Recognized there, just not as a disk.

or

Go to Applications Folder and select Image Capture

Go to Image Capture's preferences and make sure that the application (i.e. iPhoto) you want to use with your camera is selected.
