CD-R not recognised

MacBook 2ghz,1 GB, 250 gig
does anyone have an idea why ,when I insert a blank CD-R it doesnt come up on the desktop,or in the folders side pane. I therefore cannot burn a picture cd in IPhoto. is there a small button I havent selected,somewhere ?:|

Blank discs don't show up in the Finder. But they are there. If you instruct iPhoto to burn, it will launch the burn window and detect your blank disc.

EDIT: I think I was a little off. The DVD/CD will not show in Finder if you hit "Ignore" on seeing the pop up. It will not show the pop up if CD/DVD in system preferences is set to Ignore.

Go to Finder>Preferences and make sure the CD/DVD/iPods box is selected.
