Verify Disk "Underlying Task Failure on Exit"?

I am trying to run Disk Verication, and this error message comes up, and prevents the verification process from completing. I also get the message that the Macintosh HD needs to be repaired, but it won't let me do so since the verifications wasn't finished. Any thoughts?

back up your Data if you can still see the disk!!!

Boot from your install disk and run Disk Utility from the menu. That should fix it.
Then backup!

Thanks for the tips. I ran the Disk Utility and it did in fact repair the desk. Moving on to backup!
