Hi all,

i would like your suggestion and steps to follow for deleting my windows partition that i had made using boot camp and merging the same with the mac hard disk WITHOUT having to re-install osX.
i do not want to go through the process of completely going back to stage 0 and reinstalling the entire os x , so please guide me how do i solve my problem.
my osx files in my osx hard disk should remain untouched. all i need is to delete the windows partition, change the file system and add the hard disk partition to the exisiting osx partition.

i have read about boot camp and know few details but i just want to be sure while playing with sensitive data.

thanks a lot.

Open the Boot Camp Assistant application in your Applications => Utilities folder. It will give you the option to remove your Windows partition without having to reinstall. I have done it several times now and have never had an issue.

My only advice to you would be that once you're done, be sure to do a PRAM reset as that will bring boot times back to normal. This is done by turning the computer on and then immediately press and hold Command + Option + P + R. Wait until you hear the system chime three times and then release.

application>utilities>boot camp

then which tabs, buttons to click etc. ??

ALSO will this merge my windows partition with my mac partition or will it create two separate drives??

i don't have access to my mac right now but will follow the steps u say at home. i just want to be very very careful not to mess my data in my macbook because i have my pics which i don't want to get deleted.

It's self-explanatory and very simple. Simply open up the Boot Camp Assistant just as you did when you initially installed Boot Camp and then follow the on-screen instructions.

And yes, when you finish, it will restore your Mac to a single partition.

Also, I should note that you should be regularly backing up your Mac if you store important data on it. Your hard drive can fail at any time, so you want to make sure you always have a good backup in the event of a disaster.
