I've heard its been done already with the beta, but if I tried this... how much memory would you recommend? I only have a 600mhz G3 iBook and need to upgrade the memory from its built in 128. I know just about everything there is to know about PC's, but I'm not good with Mac. Does anyone know how much this computer can handle in the way of add on memory and how much should I use if I try Leopard on it?

Your G3 iBook can go up to 640MB of RAM by adding 512MB to the existing 128MB.

I would suggest this is barely enough to run Leopard, but it is acceptable for Tiger.

AFAIK, Leopard does not support the G3 and there may be pretty good reasons for this. Although you may be able to trick the OS into installing, the experience may be very poor and could be unstable. If the OS thinks certain hardware capabilities are there, that are not, it could cause issues. A G4 is not simply a faster G3. It has almost twice as many transistors and many extensions.

In other words, I think the G3 would really struggle with Leopard.:|

i don't think the leopard idea is a good one. Though you can modify some files and install it on something lower than 866 which is the official lowest, I don't think it would give the full experience of Leopard..

well like I said, I'll probably end up with tiger since I've got that on cd... but I just wanna see if I can do this with leopard and if its going to be slow, I want to see if it will be just very sluggish, or near unusable like everyone says.
