yes, thanks, saw that some time ago,

basically what I'm interested in is what happens when you minimize an app while being in one of virtual desktops, and after that moving to another virtual desktop, the minimized app will be visible in taskbar on the new virtual desktop ?

can I customize this to have a behaviour like:

if I'm in the "space - Devel" then in the task bar appear only apps that I have opened in this space, they can be minimized or visible.

if i'm in the "space - music" then in the task bar appear only apps that I have opened in this space, they can be minimized or visible.

This way if you get bored from the task you do curently you just switch to another virtual desktop, and you're completely in different world. Each desktop(space) can be customized independently - background, skins, context menus, etc...

(little note: The bar at the bottom is called the Dock.)

From what I've seen, it would appear that the Dock remains the same in all spaces.

too sad, if leopard is replacing only the "VirtueDesktop" in terms of organizing...

if I'm not a developer and wasn't at those WWDC, can I legally get a demo of lopard from somewhere so I can try it out to get the feeling ?

Sure, just sign up to become a Premium ADC member and you can download a legal developers copy.

    Or wait a few months

my guess is that the "spaces" will be just like in Linux...if you have ever used that....the spaces concept is actually really cool. I doubt it helps make things run any faster, however it is cool to keep your "space" less cluttered.

linux has spaces ? o-mmm-my god, how did that to have that ? I was told by my mommy that it is only a kernel, I'm going to kick their asses next time I meet them.

    ----
ok, sorry it was a mad joke. It will be nice to have a demo of leopard without to become a dev member, so even a usual cooker can have the option to see on what he will spend money.

so there will be no more situations when I try to do something in the glorious iPhoto, and it turns out that it DOES not have the export/backup functionality of your spent time. Instead at a thin level of your sub-conscience they push you to buy aditional software that will do that - intentionally undesigned features ?

    yeah, bad day.

    hey everyone -

just installed leopard, but a little disappointed with spaces.

i felt as though each "space" was actually a different desktop. but it seems each space can only hold different windows.

basically, can i have each "space" show different desktop folders/icons?

also.... how do you chance wallpapers on each "space" ?

    thank you!

None of the are features of spaces. They aren't separate desktops. Simply separate working/window containing environments.

hmm. that sucks. well, any idea how to have those features?

    any third-party software?

    thank you

VirtueDesktops has those features, but the project has been canceled. I'm not sure that it will work in Leopard though, as the last release for Tiger was only in the beta stages.

    It's worth a try though!

maybe spaces will have this functionality in the future, apple keeps adding features so you never know what they are going to do.

Im am annoyed that spaces doesnt work for full screen applications such as games. Thats the reason it should be so great, so I dont get caught playing games!!
