choppy video since 10.4.9

Your Mac's Specs
MacBook (white), Core Duo 2 ghz, 2 GB RAM
Since updating to 10.4.9 I have had choppy video playback in all players (VLC, QT, MPlayer) with files that ran fine before the OS update. I have tried repairing permissions but that did nothing. What to do?:(
