Mouse Scrolling Problem

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone would be able to help me. I'm not sure what happened but my mouse will only scroll up now not down.. which I am finding a big inconvenience as I love to use the mouse for scrolling!

Please help if you can, thanks in advance!

Whose make of mouse is it, how old is it, and what machine and version of OS X do you have?

If it's a mighty mouse... it's probably just a bit dirty.

I hold it upside down and blow into the scrollball area a few times.

I'm using a new imac (2 weeks), using the mouse that came with the computer. my daughter was playing preschool games on the computer so not sure if maybe she accidentally hit a key that would have changed preferences?

I tried blowing it out but it didn't do anything to fix the problem.

Well I guess that was the problem, i pressed it down and rolled it around and then blew some more air in and now it seems to be working fine. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes that scroll button does get a bit dirty with dust and whatever else can enter there! I use a Q-Tips moist with rubbing alcohol and roll the ball over so the alcohol will dislodge any oily dirt and stuff. It works every time. :girl:

I just used the alcohol and q-tip fix. It worked fine.
