Hello everyone,

I just recently purchased a 2.16ghz MBP. I'm new to the world of Macs and to the forums. This is a great site with alot of great info. I'm looking foward to contributing as I learn more.

Here's my question. I accidently dragged an icon from my dock onto my desktop and deleted it. The icon looks like it has the symbol "@" on top of it. I'm not even really sure what it is for. Can someone please tell me how to retrieve it and what this icon is used for?

I tried to go to my applications folder to see if I could retrieve it and drag it back to the dock. However, it wasn't there. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Is this what you are talking about? Address book??

Well, I'm pretty new to macs myself but I'm sure you just drag the app. for the apps. folder back to the dock..and voila! It should be there.

Hope that helps, alittle!

Netty's right.

and it should be in the application folder. if not just open spotlight and type in "address", it should pop up.

Thanks for the quick reply. Thats actually not the icon I was talking about. The icon looks like a metal spring with a circular shape on top with the symbol "@" on top of it. I coudn't locate it in my applications.

I don't think it's a program, when you click it, it directs you to the Mac OS X part of the apple website.

Maybe some one can jump in and clarify... :)

Yup! That's the icon I was talking about. I just want to be able to get that back on the dock. I think it's called the URL icon. Thanks Netty!

you could try visiting apple.com and then dragging the address from the address bar to the dock. (not on my mac now, so i can't validate this).

by the way, i should say, welcome to the forums!

a lot of this stuff is just figuring how things should work depending on how you understand the rest of it to work.

that's half of tech support. ;)

Welcome fame2, enjoy your new Mac and the forum. As you just found out... this a great place to come and get useful, immediate answers (offer help too when you can)? Be forewarned though, it is addicting;>)
