Hi all. I am replacing my broken ibook, and am on the fence as to whether to go for a macbook, or a pc. So, I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help me with. I was on the apple store website looking at os-x tiger. My ibook was a few years old (g4), but when I purchased it, imovie, and iphoto were includsed with the operating system. Now after looking at the website, I see that iphoto and imovie are packaged in ilife. Is apple going to make me pay another $80.00 for ilife because tiger doesn't come with iphoto or imovie? Also, I just today purchased a new Gateway for my wife, so, can I use her Windows disk that came with her pc to install windows on my macbook using bootcamp, or do I have to go out and buy a new copy os os-x? I know licensing may be a problem, do I need to go out and get a newly licensed version of windows or can I use hers?

iLife '06 comes bundled with the MacBook so you get iPhoto, iMovieHD, iDVD, iWeb, and all that jazz. This is mentioned in the middle of the left side of the macbook product page.

The Windows disk will probably be a 'restore CD" if it's from a company like Gateway, so you can't use it as a generic install CD. However, to keep up with the rules of the forum with respect to piracy, yes, you must buy another copy of Windows. You can get XP for next to nothing, now, though.

Thanks, I understand the rules of piracy and all. I was simply asking about this so that I could install windows as a test run to see if I really want to purchase a licensed copy for personal use. But I was looking and you are right. With the release of vista, xp is pretty cheap, so i am going to go with that. I just purchased my new macbook a few minutes ago, so looking forward to trying it out.
