    Apache issue..
    Hi all,

I switched to mac from windows exactly a week ago, and set up the built in apache (i used to run xampp). all has been fine, got mysql running too.

I followed a tutorial use friendly urls using htaccess on my machine. anyway, today when i try to view my pages on http://localhost/ i get 403 errors on every page i try.

im no apache administrator so i feel 100% lost.

i dont know what ive done wrong, at all. as it was working fine last time...

maybe sombody apache savvy can help me out (post up my httpd.conf file for example and see what my settings are)

    thanks greatly,
    Ben

I'm not sure what the cause of this problem. Since you are familiar with XAMP, I thought it would be appropriate to suggest MAMP

Oh btw. check whether the Personal Web Sharing is checked in preferences.

thanks for the reply. yes, personal web sharing is on...

i was familiar with xamp, but never too hot with it. I downloaded MAMP, alas, it didn't do me any good. still got the 403 errors.

would the fact that i have been trying to get my htaccess to work have anything to do with the problem im having? somehow maybe i have entered wrong settings?

    FIXED!!

    How happy i am....wooo!!!

Basicly, i reviewed every change i made to my apache configuration...

i found out i had 2 user config files (by mistake) for apache that had the same settings. after removing the file that wasn't meant to be there, bingo!

Thanks for all your help novicew, i really appreciate it
