How To: Remove Bluetooth Device from List in "Browse Device"
I have 2 phones listed in the Browse Device window, that I no longer have. I've deleted them as favorites but I can't get them off this list of devices. Thanks!

    Here is what I did:

I clicked on the Bluetooth symbol on the bar at the top of my screen.
    Clicked on Open Bluetooth Prefernces.
    Clicked on Devices.
Selected the one I wanted, and then clicked DELETE.

It worked for me. Hope that helps.

I've already deleted the devices from there, just as you described, but when I go to:

Bluetooth Symbol at top of screen > Browse Device

They still appear in that list.

Funny thing is, if I open System Profiler, under Bluetooth, I don't see those devices listed there either. It's as if there's a bug in the "Browse Device" results pane, that continues to show devices after they're removed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's odd that there doesn't seem to be a way to clear them from that list.

Change the name of the new phone? It's usually a setting in your phones bluetooth menu.

That would seem to address his dupe phone names, but it's too bad you can't delete one from the list. That list info has to be somewhere though. Very frustrating.

This document describes how to remove those pesky persistent entries. Just use care to be sure you edit with an editor that won't mutilate the file. I'd make a copy of the file before you edit it. It works!
