Can anybody tell me if the installation DVDs for tiger are machine specific. I have a chance of getting one cheap but don't know if it will work with an I mac G5.

Yes, most installation CDs are machine specific. Just curious, is the copy of Tiger no longer used on any machine? If it is, it would be illegal for you to install it on another one.

I'm aware of that but this is advertised as a new unopened dvd on ebay so I should imagine it would be licensed to me. thanks for the info. If it says power g3 g4 g5 on the box would this be ok for an IMAC.

I wouldn't buy it, the software is probably installed on the sellers machine. Just because it's not opened, doesn't mean the license isn't being used.

Most people rarely, if ever, open and use their restore CD.

If I were you, I would report him to eBay and Apple for selling pirated software.

Now if this is an actual Tiger DVD unopened and NOT a restore disk, then it should be ok.

Just found out I get a discount because I'm a lecturer. Only £8 dearer than ebay. Great stuff on it's way.
