Hi. So I've been working on a project for the last few weeks on my MacBook Air, which I bought less than a month ago. I downloaded some files from my email and stored them all in one Documents folder. After a gap of a few days, yesterday I opened the Mac Finder to look for the folder. But it seems to have gone missing. I tried Command+F with the name of the folder, but the results did not show a single file in that folder. I cannot comprehend what has happened. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions on how I can find/retrieve the folder with all its files intact. Thanks.

Files/Folders simply don't randomly disappear like that. The only scenario that this could have happened in is if you are using the Guest account. In that case, the Guest home folder is automatically erased when logging off and rebuilt from scratch when logging in, thus why it's for guests only.

Are the files not in your email still, or in the Trash folder of your email account? You can more thoroughly search your hard drive using the freeware Easy Find. If you want to search for erased files, you do so with Disk Drill. It's free to see if you have recoverable files, but you have to pay to register it to do the actual recovery.
