How can I transfer programs from my 10.7.5 computer to my new MBP?
I just bought a refurbished MBP. I imagine it'll be coming with 10.9 installed.

I'm using a computer with 10.7.5. By now, I have so many applications on it, including some that I bought years ago like FCP7 that I don't have the disks for anymore, and I want to bring those programs over to my new computer.

So, how can I transfer applications from an older OS X to 10.9?

    Specs:
2.8 GHz MacBook Pro 10.10.2, 8 GB mem, iPhone 6+
Migration Assistant usually gets the job done nicely.

This video also gives a good description.

A little further explanation about using the Migration Assistant:

When you first turn on your new refurbished MBP, the Migration Assistant will automatically run. Do not, and I repeat, do not create an account on the new machine until you have transferred everything over from the old one.

And the easiest way to do that is make a full Time Machine backup of the old machine, attach the Time Machine drive to the new one when the automatic Migration Assistant runs and you'll have everything on the new machine in a short matter of time.

If you create an account on the new machine first, you will have a mass of confusion when the Migration Assistant runs. You'll wind up with data in two accounts and it will be a real mess.

Thanks I should have mentioned that. Didn't remember the situation that lead to that kind of disaster till I read your post.

Back up the older computer to an external drive, and use Migration Assistant as suggested. Note that some applications migrate not as well as other. Expect to be asked for activation codes for Office and Adobe suites. If you do not have the activation codes and discs, how did you install them originally?
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
