    disc full - Macbook Air
I suddenly receive a message that the disc on my Macbook Air is full. I haven't suddenly downloaded stuff so don't understand. I have moved all my music and photos onto an external hard drive but still only have 1.25GB of 1.2-ish GB left. Any ideas what is going on here and how to free up space? Whilst I have downloaded some additional programmes (google earth, google music player, open office) that shouldn't really lead to the mac running low on space?

    thanks

    Martin

What size is the hard drive or SSD flash storage device? "only have 1.25GB of 1.2-ish GB left." doesn't make sense. How much space do you have left? Have you tried adding up the total of your System, Library, Applications and User folder to see if it near enough matches what get info shows you have used?

The total space available on my Mac is 120.47 GB, I have used 119.23 GB on the disc (that is, the Mac's disc).

The answer is simple; either move lots more off your internal SSD or replace the SSD in your MacBook Air with a larger one. Other World Computing has replacement SSDs for the MacBook Air, however, you never told us the year and model MacBook Air that you have.

Of course it could. If (for example) your MacBook Air's storage was 99.999% full before downloading something...ANY small download (whatever it is)...will then push things to 100% full.

Your MBA storage is too full...delete or off-load some items.

It's probably not programs taking up the bulk of the space. More likely it's files - photos, music, movies, etc. And this stuff probably accumulated gradually, not suddenly. But when you hit the magic spot to generate a warning, it comes suddenly, I suppose.
