Pretty trivial, I accept. Upgrading to Mavericks went without a hitch.

One "change" I've immediately seen is that although both my Time Machines appear to be backing up as they should, the "clock" in the menu bar doesn't rotate at all. It always did an anti-clockwise rotation.

Is this a normal Maverick feature? If yes, the "clock" icon seems pretty pointless. If NO, ie it should still rotate, why isn't it.

Your patient & kind thoughts appreciated as always.

No, it does not rotate in 10.9...

Who knows who thought this was a good idea???

Thanks Bob. Your kindness and courtesy is much appreciated.

In a way, I'm relieved because it means things are working 'normally"; but as you say, who thought this change would be useful? It makes the menu bar icon meaningless and causes unnecessary anxiety to the less gifted like me who assume something's not working. Ah well...

Many thanks again for your trouble.

It was a bad idea and it changes instead of a circle with one arrow head it will have qpposing arrow heads when backing up.

It's a tiny change in the icon!

Got it osxx. So it does. I missed that subtle change. MacInWin is correct; it's a tiny change, but why change at all? The previous backward-moving clock was so descriptive of what was happening.

I haven't even noticed that yet - will have to look more closely tonight.

I wish they would have made it change color or put a big B on it when backing up and yes I know you can click on it for info but I was spoiled to the clock hands moving which indicated it was backing up and all was well.

I'm going out on a limb and saying we will see it change back in the future. I have seen a ton of press on this tiny little feature. The change in the icon is way too minimal, and most users miss it all together.
