someone please help, mac flung out of door during fire need to get my data back
hey sorry if this is being posted in the wrong place but i couldn't find a better section
basically yesterday we had a house fire during which my 2007 13inch mac book got flung out the back door and as a result now dosent work,
Hopefully i will be able to get a new mac on my home insurance however i reli need stuff that is on my mac, mainly all my emails that wer stored on it via mozilla thunderbird and all my firefox book marks, everything is is backed up but i have a lot of very important stuff foldered away on thunderbird that as a result i cant seem to get via hotmail.com

i was thinking of buying a hd enclosure, removing my internal hd and trying to boot my husbands i mac from it to access my files, but i dont know if this would work ?

can any one please explain the best way i can get hold of my stuff
im not amazing with computers but i can get buy
    thanks ever so much

    Specs:
    iMac late 2007 10.11.b4, iMac 2008 10.10.5, Macbook2007 10.7.5, Mac Mini 10.7.5, iPhone 3GS Note 8!!
Also just curious, was the machine on and running when it was thrown? I have a reason for asking, but do agree, get a 2.5" SATA USB hard drive enclosure.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

As suggested try the external caddy and maybe Data Rescue 3 which has a trial version if you cannot access the contents of the drive.
Hang on to those original install discs like grim death! Using OS X.7 or later make a bootable USB thumb drive before running Installer!
