Hi

I'm using a 2012 MBP OS 10.8.4.

I can access the info in Clipboard, but I can't copy it.

"UNDO-REDO-CUT-COPY-SELECT ALL" are grayed out.

How do I change the settings?

Thank you
Jerry

Not sure what you're doing, but try using Command C to copy to the clipboard and Command V to paste from the clipboard. Unless you've installed a third party clipboard retention program the above should work.

Is this all apps or only a select few? Have you installed anything that might manage your clipboard for you?

Hi

I can copy/cut and past in all other areas except clipboard.

Short cut keys etc do not work with clipboard but do with everything else.

Thanks for your reply.

"ClipMenu" is one such program and refers to what Vansmith said above.

Hi

No I have nothing like that. This MBP is almost right out of the box.

Thanks for your reply

I think there may be a difference in understanding here. Is Clipboard an application you're using? I ask because the system process used to manage the copies/cuts/pastes is called "clipboard."

Hi

The clipboard is the one found in FINDER > EDIT > SHOW CLIPBOARD.

The one when I copy something it goes into temporarily. And is removed when I copy something else.

I have a CONFIGURATION LOG for a VPN and under it's UTILITIES it has button that allows you to copy the LOG into Clipboard. I need to send that LOG COPY to the VPN, as I'm having a problem logging onto the VPN.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply.

If you can't copy the log to the clipboard using the utility from your VPN, but the clipboard is otherwise working as it should, that suggests a problem with the VPN utility clipboard copy.

Why can't you just select the VPN log using "Edit", "Select All", "Copy", and then paste it into TextEdit and send that copy to your VPN?

Hi

Sorry I wasn't clear.

The LOG is automatically copied into Clipboard.

And anything else I copy that goes into Clipboard is unavailable to cop/cut/paste.

The VPN Log only copies to Clipboard with a button in it's Utilities that says - "Copy Console Log to Clipboard"

Thank you for your reply.

Hi I still have not found out why I can't copy/cut/paste from my Clipboard. The reason I needed to do so was I couldn't connect to the VPN I was using. They sent me my money back because they weren't willing to help me. I joined another VPN and they were brilliant. For anyone that may be having trouble connecting their Mac to a VPN this is what they gave me and it worked:
Hello Jerry,

"Thanks for contacting support.

Many times connection issues such as this are related to either IPv6, or the MacFirewall being too restrictive.

V28 of our software of course takes this increased support and adds it into the PIA Application. This creates issues for us as the Gateways do not support IPv6, as the IPv6 is not properly tunneled, so we recommend disabling it.
1. Click on the Apple in the upper left corner
2. Click on System Preferences
3. Click on Network (icon)
For each item on the left, do the following:
4. Click Advanced (button, bottom right)
5. Click on TCP/IP (tab)
6. Set "Configure IPv6" to "Link-local only" or "Off" (Depending on your OS version)

There's a known bug in the internal MacOS firewall (that Apple still hasn't fixed), which blocks all secure UDP traffic, even if you add exceptions to allow it (thus, the bug). To disable the internal firewall, please follow the steps below:

1. Click on the Apple in the upper left corner
2. Click on System Preferences
3. Click on Security and Privacy (icon)
4. Click on Firewall (tab)
5. Disable the firewall

Please note there's a firewall built into our app to compensate for this, so as long as you have our app running (not necessarily connected, but at least running in your taskbar), you're still fully protected by a firewall. Let us know if you are still experiencing issues after this.

Thanks,

Sam B, Level 1 Tech Support
