Having just moved to a Mac, I want to use a Lacie External drive previously used on a Windows PC.

Does this have to be configured for the Mac and if so how?

If you plan to use it with Apple's Time Machine backup system, then you will need to reformat it to MacOS Extended format, Use disk utility in Applications > Utilities

Once done reconnect the drive and the Mac will ask you if you want to use the drive as a time machine backup disk
