Command + Q is not working properly
    Hello

I just installed Mountain Lion on my Mac book pro. I previously had Lion.

Everything goes fine, but when I want to close an application I either type Command + Q in order to close Safari, for example, or I also click on the X, at the top left corner of any app.

These two options close the app but the top menu of the app doesn't disappears, it remains stuck. I need to click on the screen to completely remove the top menu.

Is this a bug?? I tried to reinstall the OS again, but I have the same problem over and over again.
I installed Mountain Lion by using a bootable USB.

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks a lot!!!

Hitting CMD+q is quitting the application, clicking on the X on the top left is just closing the window while the application (Safari in this case) remains running. You can see that the in Dock, the small light underneath the Safari icon will remain lit if you just hit X, but hit CMD+q and the light will go away.

Now as to the top bar not refreshing once you close Safari, does it do that with other applications or just Safari?

Can you open Safari and Finder and then switch back and forth and see if the top bar switches and says Finder and then Safari and so on?

A screen shot would help, but I think you mean that the menu bar across the top of an application window remains on the screen, but the rest of the window closes. That's mighty strange, if that's the case. I don't know if that's a Finder corruption or the System User Interface. But you could try fresh plist files. To do that, you delete finder.plist or systemui.plist and then Restart.

    Thanks!

@Raz0rEdge, yes, the top bar is not refreshing once I close any application. If I open finder and Safari for example, I can switch back and forth to one program to another. The top bar changes properly in this case.

@toMACsh yes, the top window of any application remains on the screen, but the rest of the windows closes.

I have installed Mountain Lion like 4 or 5 times (formatting the hard drive), but still doesn't work.

by the way, where can I find those plist files????

    Thanks!!

    HD/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences

That particular Library folder (there are others) might be hidden, depending on your OS version.
