Application not working with 10.8.2

I have an application that previously work with 10.7. Now I have upgraded to 10.8 and it will not open. The program is writing software(not an apple developer) and has data I would like to retrieve. There is no indication of the developer updating this older program. Is there any solutions to this, or is my data lost?

You're going to have to name the application if you want any sort of legitimate response.

10.8.2 here and the latest 2.6 beta 4 appears to open and function properly.

Having said that, I'd suggest moving away from an app where you know the developer is quitting work on it.
