Does anyone have any advice for resetting an administrator password on the latest OS X operating system?

All of the help information provided by Apple implies that you are able to associate an Apple ID with a user account, and to use this as a means to reset your password.

(That is, if you are stupid enough to forget your password like I have)

However, when I try to do do this at System & Preferences > Users & Groups (Apple ID Set), it just asks me for my password again - which is what I want to change!

It does not prompt me to enter Apple ID and password as described in the literature.

HELP!

You need to use the Recovery partition not the Apple ID user reset as the article implies. Please read through the following discussion article that is posted in the Apple community forums: LINK
