I used Time Machine for the first year I had the MacBook pro and then this past summer I crashed the hard drive. I took the opportunity to upgrade to a solid state drive and install Snow Lion. I didn't want to lose the previous image of Lion prior to the crash so I retired the backup drive (a Western Digital 1TB My Book) and replaced it with another 2TB My Book.
Several months down the road and I need to look at previous hard drive so I unplug 2TB drive and plug in the 1TB drive. Enter Time Machine and I find all my folders have a little X on them and I can't look at them. Choose Get Info and attempt to change permissions to Read/Write and authenticate. Still can't get in.
I guess it's time to ask questions before I crash another drive. How do I swap between backup drives and have access to both?
Thanks
