Window selected when my mouse arrow points to it

I am still running Snow Leopard on my iMac. Several weeks ago, something started happening that I have never seen before.

Wherever my mouse arrow points, that window is selected. So, for instance, as I write this entry, I have several windows open in Safari. If, while typing, my mouse arrow wanders and points at another open Safari window, that one pops up over the one in which I was working.

Does anyone know what's causing this to happen and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Your left mouse button may be stuck. That, or you are using a 3rd party tool that enables a window to be selected simply by hovering over it. Actually this is supported natively in OS X and can be enabled/disabled by a Terminal command.
